Quinn's first week home!

When Quinten arrived home for the first time he was greeted by GM and GP Kurash, Grandma Kathy and Mark, and of course our dog Callie!
Everyone took turns holding, kissing and loving our new little man!
It didn't take long for Callie to become Quinten's biggest fan!
 or daddy!

On Friday, Quinn went to the doctor for his first check up.  He maintained his discharge weight of 5 lbs.  We celebrated by having a sushi dinner! (First time in 9 months...YUMMY!)

First at home bath...
Quinten LOVES the water...maybe a future surfer:)
We had a fun filled weekend!

Saturday night Nina and Rocky came over with an Indian dinner for us!
Quinten slept in his pack and play while we ate:)
Quinn taking in the new world around him. (Thanks Gina, Lennie and Ella for the playmat!)
On Sunday, Kara, Lynn, Nancy, Steph, Chris & Ryleigh came to visit.
Who do you think Quinten looks like?
Tired after a very full weekend!

Greatest hospital ever!!!

I can not sing the praises of Christiana Hospital and staff enough.  I encourage anyone having a baby to come to Delaware.  Before having Quinten, the hospital offered many classes for us.  We will never forget the interesting people we met (Grace if you are out there you are the butt of many jokes), videos (not so funny...scary) and fighting over who got to diaper and swaddle the doll (Jason couldn't understand why we didn't each get our own doll).  Once we were there, it got even better.  Jason and I each had our own bed, tv and touch screen computer.  The food was actually good...especially the apple dumpling! YUM!!

We even had some visitors...
Of course GM Jeanne came everyday!

Aunt Rae (Kara)

By Thursday we were ready to go home!!
Because Quinn was so little he had to take a test to see if he could ride in a car seat before leaving the hospital.  He passed with flying colors!

The very best thing about our hospital was the amazingly gorgeous pictures they took of Quinn before we left!

The bean's on his way...ALREADY?!?!

When we woke up in the morning I again was having some cramping along with some other signs of labor.  We decided calling the doctor would be smart.  She assured us that everything seemed normal and that my body was definitely getting ready to have this baby.  She said it sounded like he didn't want to wait a whole month to meet us and we would probably be having a baby by the end of the week!
I decided that going gym this morning was probably not a good idea.
I started to pack a bag, just in case, while Jason headed to the gym...with his phone.  Within minutes of him leaving my water broke! Jason came home we called the hospital and off we went! They ran some tests when we got there to confirm it was my water that broke and told us that the bean would be coming today!  Because he was still breech I would have to have a c-section. Many other babies were being born this morning, so we had to wait and wait and wait!  We spent about 4 hours in triage calling and texting friends and family with the big news, it all seemed so surreal.  We also had to decide on a name...

Finally at about 12:30 the anesthesiologist came in to meet us, he told me the lower back pain I was having was indeed contractions and they were about 3 minutes apart at this point.  They took us upstairs, while they prepped me for surgery, the proud daddy to be had to prepare as well.
Once we were in the room it seemed like minutes and our little bundle arrived!
Quinten Kurash Kusheba was born at 1:33 pm he weighed 5 lbs. 5 oz. and was perfect in every way!

As soon as Grandma and Grandpa Kurash heard the baby was on his way, so were they!
Grandma Jeanne stayed at our house while we were at the hospital to take care of Callie our dog other baby and have an easier trip back and forth to the hospital.

We found out that I had a septum in my uterus and that was why Quinten was born at 36 1/2 weeks.
His sugar levels were low and daddy was pretty much thrown a bottle to give him as soon as he came out.
Quinten was able to stay with us in recovery but since he was late preterm, the nurses had to monitor him until his sugar level came up some.
He was a good eater right from the start and was able to be in our room by 11:00pm  the first night!
The three of us slept very good that first night!
The second night was a little tougher,
Quinten had already realized he much rather be held than sleep in his crib:)

Less than a month to go...a LOT less!

Baby Kurash-Kusheba was due August 12, 2011.  Thinking we had almost a month before he entered the world we headed to the beach for the weekend!  Feeling good, we decided to head out and meet our old beach house crew at Jimmy's Bar. We had a lot of fun talking, laughing and dancing with our friends. So much fun, I surprised Jason and myself when I stayed out until near 1:00 in the morning. It seemed strange when we were saying our goodbyes when Jen T mentioned the next time they might see us, we would have a baby. We had almost another month...or so we thought!

It was a beautiful beach day on Sunday so we decided to layout and get some Vitamin D! After enjoying  a fabulous day on the beach we debated whether we should stay the night in Rehoboth or head back to Wilmington.  Turns out we made a VERY smart decision!!! After cleaning up the house and packing up the car we drove back to Wilmington near 8:00 pm. While relaxing on the couch, I started to feel some cramping in my belly.  After about 15 minutes, I mentioned the strange feeling to Dr. Jason Kusheba;) Jason quickly went to our fridge to read the checklist we had hanging "Preterm Labor Signs." 2 minutes later I was laying feet elevated, drinking several glasses of water.  After about an hour of this, we decided it was time to call the doctor.  She explained I was probably having Braxton Hicks contractions and should try to go to sleep. So we did.  We slept great from 11:30pm to 6:30 am. Oh what I would give to sleep that long now! HA!

Shower #2 & 3d bean

My parents threw us another baby shower in the Poconos so we could celebrate with friends and family that couldn't make the trip down.  Baby bean is surrounded by SO many people that love him already. My mom and her girlfriends did an AMAZING job putting together a lovely brunch for everyone.  The next day my parents sent us to a place called "Meet your Baby in 3d." It was the coolest experience ever! We sat with a technician for about a half hour watching the bean, he seemed to be sleeping because he wasn't that active.  We later found out he didn't have much room to move and ultimately ended up entering the world early because of his limited space.  The technician gave us a video of the bean.  She then recorded his heartbeat and put the sound inside a teddybear for us.  All of this excitement was followed up by a mommy massage. Such a GREAT DAY!!!
The technician and I both couldn't stop laughing because the baby already resembles Jason.
If you look, you can see his little hand rubbing his chin.
This is EXACTLY what Jason was doing when he was watching the screen, without realizing it!
LIKE FATHER, LIKE SON!
